The Town of Montoir-de-Bretagne won its “Ma Ville se Ligue” label following the second national labeling committee convened by the League Against Cancer in December. It is the very first labeled municipality in Loire-Atlantique.
“A concrete commitment from the municipality”
The committee underlines “the exemplary commitment of the municipality, in particular the remarkable dynamic around physical activity. The actions demonstrate a concrete commitment by the municipality to public health.”
The City thus obtains a label two ribbons, out of a maximum of four that can be awarded depending on the level of commitment.
This is official recognition of the actions taken in recent years by Montoir-de-Bretagne to create environments favorable to health and thus prevent the 40% of so-called avoidable cancers, because they are linked to our lifestyles (tobacco, alcohol, diet, sedentary lifestyle, etc.).
Invented by the League against Cancer in order to develop local health policies, the “Ma Ville se Ligue” program offers a directory of 30 actions from which a municipality can draw in order to be labeled.
The decision to label the municipalities then falls to a national committee which includes user representatives or national partners such as the National Cancer Institute.
