Lisa Müller explains why she didn’t accompany her husband to Canada. And how she deals with rumors and misunderstandings about her personal life.

For wife Lisa, moving to Canada was not an option after long-time Bayern professional Thomas Müller moved to Vancouver. “It wouldn’t have been possible to accompany him. I ride in tournaments, that’s my job. The horses also have to be trained between tournaments, and someone in the company has to make sure everything is going well,” explained the 36-year-old dressage rider in an interview with the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.

Thomas Müller moved to the Vancouver Whitecaps in the North American professional league MLS after FC Bayern did not extend the 2014 world champion’s contract. The 36-year-old reached the MLS Cup final with the Whitecaps.

Lisa Müller said she no longer comments on her private life. “Then I would justify myself and besides, no matter what you say, they spin it the way they want,” she explained.

Lisa Müller gave the example of a meal with several friends a few weeks ago. “Then photos are taken in which only one person can be seen apart from me, which are then interpreted accordingly. Then you see me again with Thomas, then everything is fine again, two weeks later nothing is fine again,” she reported. “Now I don’t give a damn, I’m just the stupid player’s wife who can actually only paint nails.”

Lisa Müller recently completed several internships with a connection to state politics, including with the President of the Bavarian State Parliament, Ilse Aigner. She feels at home in the CSU, but rejected a request from the Miesbach district association to run for the local elections on March 8th.

“But when I do something, I want to do it well. That’s why I said it’s still too early for me, I first want to know exactly what to expect so that I can offer the citizen what he deserves,” said Lisa Müller. Of course, she already has an insight into agriculture and is very knowledgeable about many of the areas in which she works. However, she emphasized: “At the moment, riding is still my top priority; for me it’s less a job than a calling or a hobby. I just enjoy it, I love working with the animals.” She is currently ranked 55th in the dressage world rankings.
