Fatal accident drama in Linz: A 57-year-old construction worker from the Freistadt district died on Thursday morning while working on the facade. The man was working at the new Motel One on Kärntnerstrasse – the former Ibis hotel opposite the main train station.
Man fell 18 meters
The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. According to police, the 57-year-old was working on the facade when he fell around 18 meters for reasons that are still unclear. His colleagues only noticed the incident when he was already on the ground.
Despite comprehensive emergency medical care and exhaustion of all measures, the man could no longer be helped. He died at the scene of the accident, according to police. There is great sadness in his home community in the Mühlviertel.
According to “Krone”, the 57-year-old was considered a cheerful person who got along well with everyone. People in town are deeply affected, many are still in shock. He was involved in sports, active as a kicker, coach and also as a referee and was firmly anchored in club life. Particularly tragic: his mother’s 90s celebration was planned for the coming weekend.
