Despite nursing a fractured right toe,francisco Lindor delivered a clutch,two-run double in teh ninth inning Friday night,propelling the New York Mets to a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies. Lindor’s resilience and determination have once again captured the attention of teammates and fans alike.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza acknowledged Lindor’s unwavering commitment. “I knew he had an ace under his sleeve at some point,” Mendoza said, recognizing Lindor’s ability to impact the game even while injured.

Mendoza carefully considered when to deploy Lindor, knowing his mobility was limited. while he couldn’t play his usual position,his ability to hit made him a valuable asset. “It could stand on two legs, and that means it can hit. And that turned the Puerto Rican into a threat,” Mendoza noted.

Lindor’s performance underscored two key aspects of his character: his willingness to play through pain and his ability to perform at a high level despite physical limitations.

Initialist Pete Alonso praised Lindor’s dedication: “Knowing him, one thinks: ‘Of course he will do that. Of course. Of course,” said initialist Pete Alonso. “But when you really analyze it in perspective, it is really special to have a teammate willing to risk his physique every day. He is a true professional.”

Reliever Ryne Stanek echoed Alonso’s sentiments, stating, “One as he expects him to meet the work. He has shown that this is what he is capable of.”

The Mets felt Lindor’s absence when he sat out the previous game after sustaining the injury on Wednesday. His return to the lineup, even in a limited capacity, provided a significant boost.

After Juan Soto singled and Alonso walked in the ninth, Lindor stepped up to the plate with two outs. lindor quickly proved schaeffer’s words to be true, driving a double into the corner that allowed Alonso to score the go-ahead run.

“We are privileged,” Alonso said. “Because with him, you have a boy who is simply willing to give everything he has irrespective of how he feels or what his state of health is.”

Kodai Senga, through an interpreter, added, “This simply illustrates what kind of person is Francisco Lindor. He is a leader and is a superstar.”

Lindor’s commitment to playing is well-known. Over the past three seasons, he has averaged 158 games per year, demonstrating his durability and dedication to the team.

Despite his resilience, Lindor has faced injuries.In May 2024, he missed the first five innings of a game due to illness but returned to hit two doubles in an extra-innings victory. Last September, back pain sidelined him for 11 days, but he returned for the playoffs, playing every inning of every game.
