Significant health risks due to listeria infection – even life-threatening possible
Like the Federal Ministry of Health on its information portal gesund.bund.de explains in more detail, the course of listeriosis is mild in most cases of the disease. However, risk groups such as unborn children, newborns, the elderly or those with weakened immune systems can suffer from severe disease. “The pathogens can, for example, spread through the blood throughout the body and cause life-threatening blood poisoning,” it continues.
Laschinger Seafood GmbH also strongly advised against consuming the above-mentioned products in its recall notice: “Listeria disease usually manifests itself within 14 days of infection with diarrhea and fever. In particular, pregnant women, seniors and people with weakened immune systems can develop more severe illnesses with blood poisoning and meningitis. In pregnant women, even without symptoms, the unborn child can be harmed.”
At the same time, the company stated that other items and other consumption data and lot numbers from Laschinger Seafood GmbH are not affected by the recall from Kaufland, Aldi and Hofer. All customers who bought one of the fish products removed from sale will receive their money back in the Kaufland, Aldi and Hofer branches, even without presenting the receipt.
