This year’s citizens’ meeting looked forward, but also looked back with honors.
LIEBOCH. It was another special occasion to look back, but also forward. This year’s citizens’ meeting in the Lieboch event hall was also well attended this year.
New rhythm
From now on, this will take place every two years, alternating with the business dinner. In addition to a brief review of the many events in 2025, numerous honors were also awarded. Around 50 community citizens were awarded the community’s bronze, silver or gold badge of honor, which was reinstated by resolution. Among other things, also to the general practitioner Roman Artner, who has said goodbye to his well-deserved retirement after 37 years of general medical practice in Lieboch. The doctor was more than just a normal doctor, Artner was there for the population around the clock and more than earned the badge of honor. Finances were also an important point at the meeting. Because the share of income flows more and more into expenses (social assistance, state taxes, …), savings also have to be made in Lieboch, as the community leadership says. Funding was massively cut.

Saved on grants
“We have prioritized funding that primarily affects children and scaled back all others,” explains Mayor Stefan Helmreich. The rest of the path to building the new sports center is proceeding according to plan. The preparatory work for the new building is scheduled to begin in the summer, and the official start of construction may even be celebrated this year. From 2027, the new Business Village Styria with the striking office tower will be built on the A2 motorway near the commercial area there. It is said that interested parties have already been found for around 60 percent of the space there.
