Baseball is over, but the stadium is sold out. LG fans gathered to enjoy the joy of winning the game for the first time in two years.

LG’s ‘Korean Series Championship IN Jamsil’ event held in Jamsil on the 1st was filled with 22,000 spectators. Although the reservation fee was only 1,000 won, 21,500 tickets were sold out in just 5 minutes. The remaining 500 tickets for on-site sales were sold out an hour before the event started. LG, which won Game 5 in Daejeon on October 31 and achieved the Korean Series championship, postponed the championship celebration event to a day later, saying it would hold a festival with home fans in Jamsil.

The players greeted fans at the entrance to the stadium and handed out yellow cheering towels to commemorate the victory. Veteran bullpen Kim Jin-seong said, “The fans were the ones who told me the most that they had a hard time.” All-weather infielder Koo Bon-hyuk laughed and said, “I felt better because I saw a lot of fans wearing my uniform. They said, ‘I look good.’”

The players lined up on the ground bowed to the spectators. LG coach Yeom Kyung-yeop said, “This is Yeom Kyung-yeop, the winning coach of the LG Twins,” and then added, “It is our LG fans who played the biggest role in getting us to where we are today. The fans are the protagonists of today.” Following this, Park Hae-min also introduced himself as “LG Twins winning captain Park Hae-min” and then said, “The fans said they were grateful for winning the championship, and we are grateful for their support.” The ‘champagne shower‘, which had been postponed due to the victory in Daejeon, was also held comfortably with the fans at the home ground. Starting with Kim Hyun-soo, Park Hae-min, and Oh Ji-hwan, the players ran to the fans in the inner and outfield, poured champagne on them, and laughed together.

The three-hour event ended with a laser show. And there was a surprise gift for fans. The mascot doll that was dancing with the cheerleaders on the cheering platform took off its mask. The brightly smiling face of Korean Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) Kim Hyun-soo appeared. Kim Hyun-soo, the most senior fielder, led LG to the championship with a stellar performance of 9 hits in 17 at-bats (0.529), 1 home run, and 8 RBIs in the 5 games of the Korean Series. Kim Hyun-soo repeatedly bowed to the enthusiastic cheers of his fans.

LG, which recovered for the first time in 29 years by winning the combined championship in 2023, withdrew from the playoffs in 2024 and was unable to win consecutive championships. However, this year, they placed first in the regular season again and advanced straight to the Korean Series and won. Since Doosan in 2015-2016, there has been no team that has lost two consecutive Korean Series games. There are teams that have won twice in the meantime, but LG is the only team that has won twice in three years. Coach Yeom Kyung-yeop is the only coach who has won the combined championship twice in the 2020s.

LG celebrated this victory as a step on the path to a true ‘dynasty’ in front of fans who shared the shame of the dark period, the hope of the transition period, and the glory of the peak period.
