The star of One Battle After Another was forced to abandon the event due to canceled flights following the American raid and Maduro’s arrest.
Leonardo DiCaprio, one of the most anticipated guests at the Palm Springs Awards, had to leave for a short visit and was unable to attend the event. The actor was expected in California on Saturday to collect the Desert Palm Achievement Award for One battle after another.
DiCaprio was among the stars who were supposed to parade on the red carpet of the event and participate in the awards ceremony but he had to ‘collect’ the award remotely, due to the Donald Trump’s blitz in Venezuela.
The reason for Leonardo DiCaprio’s absence at the Palm Springs Awards
Variety reported that the Oscar winner failed to leave St. Barthswhere he was on holiday with friends and his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, due to air restrictions in the Caribbean following the conflict between the United States and Venezuela.
“Leonardo DiCaprio is unable to join us in person this evening due to unforeseen travel disruptions and restricted airspace” declared a portavoce del Palm Springs International Film Festival.
“While we will miss celebrating with him in person, we are honored to recognize his exceptional work and lasting contributions to cinema. His talent and dedication to the craft continue to inspire, and we are pleased to celebrate him tonight with the Desert Palm Achievement Award”.

Il Palm Springs International Airport issued a statement on X on January 3, announcing that departing flights were subject to a ground block: “An FAA air traffic control issue is impacting Southern California airspace today. Aircraft were able to arrive, although some incoming flights were diverted, and delays are expected. This is not a PSP-specific situation and is affecting multiple Southern California airports.”.
