Do not understand what higher – the power of the computer or the amount of the bill

Customers who choose a customized computer kit must understand that such a service is not cheap. However, the case we want to tell today shows that the boundaries between reasonable and absurdo can be very thin. The original entry on the social network Reddit was deleted, but thanks to Zak Kilian of Tom’s Hardware, who has previously encountered similar business aspects, we can judge this event.
A Reddit user with a nickname New_Midnight2686 received an offer for individual computer assembly, where wages were up to $ 11,000. The components were priced at $ 3,849, so the total amount reached about $ 15,000. This is more than three equally powerful computers when putting them yourself.
Working time bloating: a month plus three weeks?
The invoice received by the customer included payment for a full four -week working hours, allegedly spent on a computer assembly. Although it is understandable that unexpected conditions, component change or special finishing can arise during complex projects, one computer – even very exclusive – is unlikely to require a month of continuous work.
Even more strangely, the demand for three additional weeks of work, which was defined as the “Project Stage”. Of course, every complex system requires planning and exploration time, but 120 hours devoted solely to this phase seems exaggerated.
Cosmic price and penalty sanctions
Even the price of computer components seems inadequately pumped. According to the customer himself, the AMD Ryzen 7900X processor and the NVIDIA RTX 4080 video card costs $ 3849. This amount is higher than the average market price even for more powerful configurations.
But a major surprise followed later. The customer was asked to $ 4,000 for the annulment of the contract if he or she decides not to buy a computer. It’s almost as much as the computer itself!
Conclusions: Where is the limit?
Given this invoice, it is no wonder that discussions on social networks could become very emotional and unconstructive. Such a case makes you think about honesty and transparency in the provision of services, especially when it comes to high -end technology. Customers are always worth carefully evaluating each position on the bill and, if doubt, request a more detailed explanation. Otherwise, we can get into a situation where we are not paying for a product or service, but for a fantasy and an expanding calculation of working hours.
