From December 14, additional trains will connect Annemasse to Lancy-Pont-Rouge during peak hours. Certain journeys of this new L7 line of the Léman Express will be extended to directly serve Geneva or Vernier airport without passing through Cornavin, thanks to the opening of the Châtelaine tunnel to passenger traffic.
The new direct connection between Annemasse and Geneva airport will take 24 minutes; that between Annemasse and Vernier 21 minutes. The time saving for travelers could be more than 10 minutes.
Avoiding Cornavin station is possible thanks to the opening of the Châtelaine tunnel to passenger traffic. Until now, it was only used for freight traffic. [lire encadré].
Humble beginnings
For the moment, only a direct connection in each direction is planned between Annemasse and the airport, to allow travelers to take the first planes and return home with the last. The morning connection will leave Annemasse at 3:56 a.m. and the evening one from the airport at 11:54 p.m.
Vernier station will be served directly from Annemasse by two trains during morning rush hours, Monday to Friday. On the way back, a train will leave directly from Vernier towards Annemasse.
The other races will connect Annemasse to Lancy-Pont-Rouge via Chêne-Bourg, Genève-Eaux-Vives, Genève-Champel, Lancy-Bachet and Lancy-Pont-Rouge, a section of the CEVA already served by other Léman Express lines, with the aim of relieving traffic during peak hours. Nine races are planned in totalfive from Geneva to France and four in the other direction, offering 12% additional seats at these times.
