Lee Eun-joo on GS Caltex DX & AI Integration | Interview

Even though it is not actually a separate request, at GS Caltex, it is easy to see not only the IT department but also various business departments such as production, sales, finance, legal, public relations, and human resources creating and using agents. There are about 50 agents created so far. Among these are an AI assistant for pre-work safety inspection meetings for partner company employees, an agent to review crude oil purchase contracts, an agent to automate complex medical expense application procedures, and an agent to automatically classify and analyze feedback (VoC) from customers using gas stations.

All of these agents were developed through ‘AiU’, an in-house generated AI service platform released in June of this year. The name ‘AiU’ is a combination of AI and ‘yu’, which means oil, but it also means ‘AI for you’, that is, personalized AI tailored to each employee.

Eunjoo Lee, head of the DX Center, emphasized that AiU’s performance is the best example of GS Caltex’s digital transformation philosophy and performance. Director Lee explained, “To be precise, it is not just DX, but the DAX (Digital Transformation + AI Transformation) philosophy. We are pushing for all members, from the production site to the headquarters, to experience both digital transformation (DX) and AI transformation (AX), and are moving forward as an energy company that actively utilizes AI.”
