With the aim of implementing a strategy that promotes reading and writing from an early age in students, the State Government through the Ministry of Education and Sports (SEyD) presented the “Lee Conmigo” program.

The project will be implemented in schools at the Preschool, Primary, Secondary and Multiple Care Centers (CAM) levels, both in the state and federal subsystem, under a methodology of nine weeks of work and recreational activities.

During the implementation of this action, the head of the SEyD, Francisco Hugo Gutiérrez Dávila, commented that the initiative reflects a permanent commitment to the comprehensive training of girls, boys and adolescents.

“Reading is opening a door to knowledge, imagination and critical thinking. Through reading we discover other realities, we better understand our environment and we strengthen our ability to express ideas, emotions and dreams,” he said.

In turn, the Undersecretary of Basic Education, Lorenzo Arturo Parga Amado, pointed out that the project was born as a need and priority within the agency, to strengthen critical thinking among students.

The director of Basic Education, Minerva Arisbe Segobia Bustamante, specified that through this program support will be provided to the educational needs of schools, to complement a comprehensive education of the students.

During the event, the materials were given to teachers and directors: Comic “Super Chafas” by Jorge Barraza, as well as the books “Pequeñas Garras” and “Duendes de los Suspiros” by the authors Demian Zaid Mendoza Terrazas and José Aragón, respectively.

“Reading with Me” contemplates a cycle of nine weeks of work, which will allow the habit to go through three critical phases:

  • · Exploration: The ice is broken with the book through artistic stimulation
  • · Appropriation: The student integrates the story into his or her own creative language
  • · Transcendence: The educational community evaluates not only how much was read, but how the student’s thinking was transformed.
