Led by brothers Stefan and Yavor Lilov, Swiss funkateers L’Eclair have cultivated a reputation for their tight-knit musicianship, honed over three albums and thru backing W.I.T.C.H. on tour.

While their earlier work, like teh Cruise Control EP (2018) and the Polymood LP, showcased a blend of ’70s library music funk and smooth fusion, Cloud Drifter expands their sound with several vocalists. A notable surprise is the appearance of rapper Pink Siifu on “Replica M001.”

Sonic Exploration on ‘Cloud Drifter’

From the opening track “memphis,” Cloud Drifter evokes a beach-ready atmosphere. The album incorporates diverse elements, such as the synth motif in “Memphis” and the Balearic trip-hop feel of the title track, enhanced by Ines’ vocals. “Ocean Mind,” featuring Phoebe Coco, creates an aquatic ambience, while “Humanopolis M001” evolves from ethereal chants into an Air-like soundscape.

Cloud Drifter sounds like it cost a million euros to produce.

disco and Dancefloor Bangers

“The Glitch,” despite its name, offers slow-motion disco with vocals by Girl Named GOLDEN. “Odessos” stands out as a dance track with sci-fi synths and space whispers. “Run” features Gelli Haha‘s vocals against flamboyant disco-funk, reminiscent of Medium Medium’s “Hungry So Angry.” The album presents a high-production-value sound.
