In an open letter to Lebanon’s president, parliamentary speaker and prime minister, Hizbollah rejected any new rounds of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, and criticized the Lebanese government for what it termed a “hasty decision” on disarming the group. Hizbollah further accused Israel of violating the ceasefire, asserting: “Legitimate defence does not fall under the rubric of ‘a decision of war or peace’, but is rather an exercise of our right to resist an enemy that wages war upon us”.
