Latvia Salary 2024: Average Earnings & Public Opinion

by Archynetys News Desk

The Central Statistical Office has published the latest data on the average salary in Latvia. It is true, however, that this information widened the eyes of many Latvian residents.

CSB informs that the average salary in Latvia in the 3rd quarter of this year is 1,835 euros before taxes. This is 132 euros or 7.8% more than a year ago.

On the other hand, the payment for one hour worked before taxes increased to 12.12 euros (+4.6%).

Average salary after taxes – 1361 euros, annual increase +10.5%, regionally the highest salary was in Riga and the Riga region – 2008 euros, the lowest – in Latgale (1329 euros).

CSB published these data, including on the social network Facebook, where commentators expressed shock and surprise at these salary figures, believing that in reality the numbers are much lower.

“Complete hu***… looking at the job offers everywhere, the gross salary is 1000-1400€… so an article is ordered and the numbers can be put together later!!! If they were real numbers, then hardly people would look for work abroad!”

“It would be interesting to see the medians for salaries as well. Some time ago I looked at the salary statistics – it turns out that about a third of Latvian workers receive the average salary or more.”

“The latest stupidity, to earn 900 on hand, you have to work 12 hours.”

“The purest lie!!! The majority of workers receive between 4.5 and 9 euros per hour gross!”

“A nation with an average salary will be left behind. How much the former head of Airbaltic earned and how much the rest of them earned, that’s a made-up statistic.”

“Nightmares of a sick dog.”

“A page of fantasy.”
