The Artist’s Vision: A call to Action

The artist explained the motivation behind the piece:

I have depicted a falling Lady Justitia… It symbolizes the political change in recent years, around acceptance and women’s rights, among other things. I often feel that justice is collapsing. With my work for The Crystal Ship I want to remind people how important justice is and call them to protect them.

this statement underscores the artist’s concern about current socio-political trends and thier potential impact on essential rights. The choice of Lady Justice, a universally recognized symbol of fairness and impartiality, as the subject matter amplifies the message and invites viewers to reflect on the state of justice in their own communities.

The Making of a Masterpiece: Overcoming Challenges

Creating such a large-scale artwork was no easy feat. The artist dedicated ten days to the project, facing notable physical challenges in the process.

The artist elaborated on the difficulties encountered:

This work is 4 times the size of what I normally do.I painted from a platform, but because it fluctuated, I sometimes became seasick. I am super tired, but also happy. I have known this street art festival for a long time and am happy to be part of it now.

Despite the demanding conditions, the artist expressed immense satisfaction in contributing to The Crystal Ship, a renowned street art festival. Their dedication and perseverance resulted in a thought-provoking piece that is sure to leave a lasting impression on the city of Amsterdam and its visitors.

Street Art as a Mirror to Society: A Growing Trend

The use of street art as a medium for social and political commentary is a growing trend worldwide. Artists are increasingly using public spaces to express their views on a range of issues, from environmental concerns to social inequality. According to a recent study by Americans for the Arts, public art projects contribute significantly to community engagement and can foster dialog on important social issues.
