A woman had to be transported to the hospital following a road accident at La Malbaie, in Charlevoix on Saturday, at the opening of the deadliest period on the roads of Quebec.

Around 4:10 p.m., the Sûreté du Québec was called upon to go to the scene of a road trip on Route 138, near the 2erang, in La Malbaie.

According to a witness, the driver in his sixties, who was alone on board, seemed to have been dried behind the wheel before killing.

His vehicle has suffered significant damage, so that the delicacy pliers were necessary to extricate the victim from the car.

The sixty -year -old was transported urgently to hospital with injuries that do not put her life in danger.

Route 138 was reopened quickly, once the driver was released from her annoying position.

According to the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, the criminal thesis was dismissed. However, the exact causes of the road exit remain unknown.

75 deadliest days

According to CAA-Québec, the Labor Day weekend represented the start of the deadliest period on the roads in 2024.

“According to data from the Quebec Automobile Insurance Company (SAAQ), it is rather between labor festival and mid-November that the majority of deaths occurred on the roads, which earned this period the unverited title of the deadliest 75 days of the year,” the organization noted in a press release published in June.

Less than a new massacre, the disastrous assessment of 38 deaths during the two weeks of vacation in construction should however reverse the trend this year.

When writing these lines, the Sûreté du Québec had counted any fatal accident since the start of the long weekend.
