A recent statement by a US President described Los Angeles (LA), california, as being plagued by violent protests related to crackdowns on illegal immigration. However, the Washington Post (WP) reported a contrasting view, describing LA as “very calm.”

The President asserted that illegal acts were unavoidable throughout Los Angeles, necessitating the presence of thousands of state defense troops adn Marine Corps. The WP countered this by stating that there was no widespread chaos.

social media and cable news outlets have recently circulated videos of burning vehicles and smashed windows, creating a perception of unrest. however,the WP clarified that protests against the US Immigration Customs Enforcement Bureau (ICE) were limited to specific downtown blocks and involved relatively small numbers of protesters.

The WP described a scene of normalcy, with peopel jogging, street vendors selling food, children playing in parks, and retirees reading newspapers. Tourists were observed visiting celebrity mansions, and crowds were gathering for events like the Pride Parade and the Hollywood Weekend Theater.

According to the WP,the city’s atmosphere is far from that of an emergency.

One expert, described as “Trump’s captain” from the LA Research Center at LA Mount Mount, characterized the situation as a “manipulated crisis and manipulated story,” adding, “There was a fire in one house, but the whole village is burning.”

The expert suggested that the President and supporters were portraying “Los Angeles has been in constitution” for political gain,specifically to promote anti-immigration policies and justify claims that Democratic-led cities are ungovernable.

Reports indicate that the scale of the recent protests is smaller compared to past events, such as those following the arrest of George Floyd in May 2020 and the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

City officials maintain that the police response,with support from the state,county,and nearby cities,has been sufficient to maintain order.

Karen Bass, the Democratic Party’s Los Angeles Market, stated, “We are now in a big laboratory to find out what happens if the federal government is deciding to take care of the state and the city.” She added that conflicts between protesters and police were limited to certain areas and that videos circulating online do not accurately reflect the overall situation.

Bass saeid, “The videos make us look like a flame, but its not true at all.”

Los Angeles, a city of diverse communities, covers a large area of approximately 500 square miles and is home to Los Angeles County, with a population of 10 million. Data from the US Statistics Bureau indicates that nearly half of the population is South American.

In related news, more than 30 Los Angeles representatives, including those from Downey, Huntington Park, and Cool City, held a press conference at Los Angeles City Hall on November 11 to protest against immigrant crackdowns.

They criticized the president’s deployment of 4,000 state defense troops and 700 marine Corps, arguing that it created anxiety within the immigrant community.

Tensions were heightened when police officers on horseback confronted protesters in front of Los Angeles City Hall, coinciding with reports of immigration enforcement agencies conducting raids throughout the city.
