Kremlin Demands: Impact on Ukraine & NATO

by Archynetys News Desk

According to analysts, the dictator has demonstrated that he is also interested in a radical restructuring of NATO.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin‘s military goals are not limited to Ukraine. This conclusion was reached by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), after analyzing the latest statements by the Kremlin ruler.

They recalled that, according to the Russian President, the war in Ukraine is a “direct consequence” of the West ignoring the interests of the Russian Federation “by expanding NATO, despite allegedly public promises not to do this.”

Analysts say Putin was demonstrating that he would not be satisfied with a peace settlement that concerns only Ukraine and does not include a radical restructuring of NATO.

They also explained that if NATO were to comply with Putin’s ultimatums, which he put forward at the end of 2021 and which he mentioned in a speech on January 15, 2026, this would lead to the destruction of NATO and require a revision of the European security architecture.

“Putin has repeatedly demonstrated that his demands are greater than those set out in the US proposed 28-point plan and subsequent peace plans. Putin remains committed to his original 2021 and 2022 military goals, which extend beyond territory and are not limited to Ukraine,” ISW wrote.

Putin’s statements

As UNIAN previously reported, on January 15, during a speech at the ceremony for accepting credentials from ambassadors of 34 countries, Putin spoke about peace, but threatened Ukraine with a continuation of the war. He, in particular, proposed “returning to a substantive discussion of Russia’s initiatives for a new and fair security architecture” and once again accused Ukraine of allegedly being to blame for the fact that the war continues.

According to him, “the crisis around Ukraine was a direct consequence of ignoring Russia’s interests” and NATO’s advance towards its borders, despite the promises allegedly “publicly given” by the West. The dictator also complained that the situation in the international arena is “deteriorating more and more.” According to him, diplomacy is being replaced by unilateral, and very dangerous, actions.
