Speculation about a remake of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic has been around for a long time. However, there has so far been no confirmation from the developer about the second part. Only the rumors about the title being discontinued were denied by Saber Interactive. However, no progress has been seen so far. According to a current report, there are now indications that not only the first part, but also the second part will receive a remake.
Telltale project names
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic appeared in various articles under the project name “Capulet”. In keeping with this, a recent report from GameFile featured “Project Juliet”. If that doesn’t indicate that this means the second part, what does?
Douglas Reilly, Vice President of Lucasfilm Games, said that this is really the second part of the series and thus confirms all suspicions. However, readers must also consider the nature of the report in which the information was found. These were court documents that are part of a lawsuit brought by Aspyr and Lucasfilm.
At this point the question remains as to what the studio actually plans to do with the two titles.
Adaptation to current platforms planned
When asked what they had planned for both parts, the vice president answered that they wanted to reissue them, but wanted to enable both modern systems and improved gameplay. However, characters and the story should be retained.
The release is planned for all modern systems; the aim was to improve the graphics and bring other elements up to date. All of these details would have already been discussed with Aspyr. In addition, the scope of the games would be expanded because content that was once discarded would be recreated and finally integrated into the game.
However, the general status of both remakes still remains uncertain. The last official announcement from Reilly came last March, where it was not only confirmed that there would be an implementation, but also that Mad Head Games had now taken over the helm in terms of development. Aspyr, meanwhile, would no longer be involved in the remakes.
Current inquiries remain unanswered
There are currently some who have asked the developer about the current status. Unfortunately, none of them received a response.
Until there is more news, players can stay busy with what’s new in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The game recently received some innovations, including time-limited boss fights and much more.
