Bupyeong Sky Animal Medical Center (Bupyeong 24 Hour SKY Animal Medical Center, CEO Hwang Ya-won) installed GE Healthcare‘s latest premium CT equipment, ‘Revolution Maxima 128 CT’, and began full-scale operation.
The recently introduced Revolution Maxima 128 CT is a device that can acquire up to 443 high-resolution images with one rotation. According to Sky Animal Medical Group, this is the first time this model has been introduced to a domestic animal hospital.
The hospital explained, “We expect that by introducing the latest equipment, we will be able to raise image quality to the next level and provide highly reliable diagnostic results based on clearer images.”
Acquire up to 443 images in one rotation… Shortened anesthesia time with imaging approximately 10 times faster than 16-channel CT
Precise evaluation of heart form and function using Cardiac CT function… Improved diagnostic capabilities for valvular and congenital heart diseases
Bupyeong Sky Animal Medical Center acquired 443 images per rotation through the introduction of 128-channel CT, realizing an imaging speed that is approximately 10 times faster than the 32 images per rotation obtained with existing 16-channel equipment.
The improvement in imaging speed is significant in that it can shorten anesthesia time, which is one of the biggest burden factors in pet CT examinations. Depending on the patient’s condition, the possibility of anesthesia-free imaging is also open, which is expected to provide a safer examination environment for patients at high risk of anesthesia, such as elderly dogs and seriously ill patients.
In particular, the ‘Cardiac CT’ solution, a heart-specific examination function, is also attracting attention. Not only the morphological structure of the heart but also its actual movement and function can be precisely evaluated, further improving the accuracy of diagnosis of valvular diseases and congenital heart defects.

Hwang Ya-won, CEO of Bupyeong Sky Animal Medical Center, said, “The Revolution Maxima 128 CT, which was introduced for the first time in a domestic animal hospital, is a device that can simultaneously secure patient safety and diagnostic accuracy based on examination speed and image quality.” He added, “We will continue to provide high-quality medical services to guardians and pets through investment in equipment and advancement of imaging diagnosis infrastructure.”
Oise, CEO of Sky Animal Medical Group, emphasized, “Awareness of the need for CT and MRI examinations in animal hospitals is increasing, and examinations are being recommended for many patients. Since pets often require anesthesia for diagnostic imaging examinations, quick examinations using the latest equipment are an important consideration in reducing the burden of anesthesia.”
He added, “Clearer images through the latest imaging diagnosis technologies such as AI can raise the level of diagnosis,” adding, “When guardians perform CT and MRI examinations, there is a need to check the equipment performance and infrastructure along with the experience of the reading veterinarian.”
Meanwhile, Bupyeong Sky Animal Medical Center has continued to promote the advancement of its radiology center prior to the introduction of 128-channel CT. In 2017, MRI was introduced for the first time in the Incheon region, accumulating the largest number of MRI examination cases in the region, and in September last year, the equipment was upgraded to GE Healthcare’s ‘Signa Explorer 1.5T MRI’ with AI (artificial intelligence) deep learning technology. In addition, with the introduction of this equipment, the center has established the latest MRI and CT lineup at the level of a university animal hospital.
