On the 14th, distributor Showbox released the official trailer for ‘The Man Who Lives with the King’. ‘The Man Who Lives with the King’ is a film that depicts the story of the village chief who declared himself an exile for the revival of Cheongnyeongpo village in 1457, and the young king who was kicked out of the throne and exiled. Actors with solid skills such as Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do are gathering more attention.

Danjong was the 6th king of Joseon and ascended to the throne at the age of 12. However, he is recorded in history as a king who lost the throne to his uncle, Prince Suyang, and was exiled to Cheongnyeongpo where he ended his life. The movie focuses on the hidden story of Danjong and stimulates curiosity and imagination.

The trailer released this time opens with Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hae-jin) slyly saying, “This is the best place for exile.” Eom Heung-do, the village chief of Gwangcheon-gol, who explains how Cheongnyeongpo is an ideal place for exile, immediately catches people’s attention. Eom Heung-do, who heard the story of the neighboring village of Norugol, that the village prospered greatly thanks to the excellent hospitality given to the exiled nobles, set the goal of making Cheongnyeongpo a place of exile in order to feed the people of Gwangcheongol. After many twists and turns, exile Lee Hong-wi (Park Ji-hoon) finally arrives at Cheongnyeongpo, designated as a place of exile, amidst the expectations of the villagers.

However, the moment of envisioning a happy future does not last long. Han Myeong-hoe’s (Yoo Ji-tae) words, “Can you handle it? No matter who comes,” hint at a crisis. Eventually, it is revealed that the exile’s identity is not an ordinary nobleman, but a young king who was kicked out of the throne, and the atmosphere in the village instantly freezes.

Han Myeong-hoe, the most powerful man of the time, keeps a close eye on Lee Hong-yu and raises the tension by revealing his overwhelming charisma and a cruel warning, “Anyone who communicates with Lao-san must die.” It raises questions about whether Gwangcheongol can safely withstand a huge whirlpool in the midst of a turbulent history.

Among these, Lee Hong-wi appears, showing a resolute attitude in the face of Han Myeong-hoe’s threats and saying, “I no longer want to lose the people I care about and love because of me.” The change is drawing attention as it heralds the process of a character who once lost the will to live regaining his pride. In addition, Eom Heung-do’s appearance asking, “Am I in there too?” attracts attention as it suggests a strong relationship with Lee Hong-wi.

In addition, the film adds a variety of characters such as Yeongwol County Governor (Park Ji-hwan), Geumseong Prince (Lee Jun-hyuk), and Norugol Village Chief (Ahn Jae-hong). The hidden story of Danjong, depicted for the first time in a Korean film, is expected to unfold even more richly.

Prospective audiences are also expressing their expectations. Online, netizens left comments such as “A group of talented actors have gathered,” “A line of trustworthy actors,” “Good casting,” “I’m already crying and it looks like it’s going to be so much fun. I should go see it with my family. Yoo Hae-jin and Park Ji-hoon are already famous for their acting,” “I want to see it quickly,” “I’m so excited,” “It looks like it’s going to be fun,” “It’s been a while since I’ll go to the theater,” “I’m getting a feeling. It feels like a million movies,” and “Wow, this is a movie that works.” responded well.

The movie ‘The Man Who Lives with the King’, which is attracting attention as a highly anticipated film for the new year, will be released on February 4th, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
