According to information from the Austrian newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten, Jürgen Klopp could leave the Red Bull group, of which he has been global director of football for just over a year. The results of the Red Bull teams are not convincing, and he could easily see himself finding a coaching bench.
25 years ago, almost to the day, Jürgen Klopp, then almost unknown, began his coaching career in Mainz. A career that took him to the heights, to Borussia Dortmund (2008-15) and Liverpool (2015-24), with three league titles, seven national cups, and four Champions League finals, including one won with the Reds in 2019. Since then, the 58-year-old German has become global director of football within the Red Bull group. But his adventure, which officially began on January 1, 2025, could well end soon. This is what the Austrian daily newspaper reveals Salzburg News.
RB Leipzig only 5th
According to the newspaper, the leaders of Red Bull and the former coach would no longer be on the same wavelength, in particular because of the results of the two main clubs in the RB galaxy, Leipzig and Salzburg, of which he aimed to make them take on a higher dimension. The German club, coached by Ole Werner since the start of the season, is only 5th in the Bundesliga and far from assured of returning to the Champions League next season. The Austrian club, coached by Daniel Beichler, is first in the championship and guaranteed to play in the play-offs, did not pass the League phase in the Europa League, finishing only 31st.
Red Bull denies
And at Paris FC, a club in which Red Bull is a 10% shareholder, he was not consulted for the choice of the coach who would replace Stéphane Gilli (Antoine Kombouaré, in this case). THE Salzburg News affirms that Jürgen Klopp would not be happy in his functions and would like to return to a coaching bench. However, Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull, insisted on denying this information, to Sky Sports Germany : « CThis is absurd and completely unfounded. Quite the contrary: we are extremely satisfied with the work of Jürgen Klopp. He invests a lot, constantly communicates with our coaches and sports directors, and sustainably develops our Red Bull playing philosophy. We are convinced that he is the man for the job. It is on him that we concentrate all our efforts and all our attention. » To be continued…
