The artist known as King Princess delivered a captivating performance of her latest single, “RIP KP,” on The Late Show. This track offers a preview of her highly anticipated third album, Girl Violence, slated for release on September 12.

Joined by her band,King Princess,whose real name is Mikaela Straus,presented a passionate rendition of “RIP KP,” complete with an energetic guitar solo and striking cherry-themed visuals. The official music video is expected to drop later today.

Girl Violence follows King Princess’s 2022 album, Hold on Baby. That album featured the single “Let Us Die,” a collaboration with the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. She shared that “Taylor wasn’t only down to play on the song, but he was also the most encouraging and fantastic presence during that session. I started sobbing at one point and Mark couldn’t stop smiling. I have never felt so lucky.Taylor made this song what it is,and I can’t wait for you to here it.”

Along with her music career, King Princess has been exploring acting roles since the release of Hold on Baby. She appears in the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers, currently streaming on Hulu, and will also star in Song Sung Blue alongside Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, expected later this year.

King Princess reflected on her acting experience, stating, “You know when your a little kid and you’re doing plays in the mirror? All of a sudden, I felt like that again. I love music, but it’s a bit different. A lot rides on you. In acting,you’re part of a huge machine working to make this piece of art. With anything that becomes monetized, it goes from being something you do for passion in your bedroom to something that you’re now trying to one-up yourself in how prosperous or profitable it could be.
