“Running Man” star Kim Jong-kook (김종국) has recently married a non-celebrity wife, whose identity remains undisclosed, in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family. The announcement came as a surprise to both fans and his fellow cast members, most of whom — apart from Song Ji-hyo (송지효) — initially thought he was joking.
Most of the cast of the hit TV series attended the ceremony and, in the latest episode of “Running Man”, the singer shared details of the event — including which of his celebrity friends gave him and his wife the most expensive wedding gifts. Here’s the story:
Over the weekend, the latest episode of “Running Man” aired on SBS, featuring actor Cha Tae-hyun as a guest. Both the permanent cast and guests shared stories about Kim Jong-kook’s recent wedding, with Yoo Jae-suk, who hosted the ceremony, playfully teasing the groom about his entrance. Cha Tae-hyun went on to reveal that Jong-kook had asked him to perform a song at the last minute, something the singer explained was his way of encouraging close friends to contribute something meaningful to the celebration.
When it came to the topic of wedding gifts, it was revealed that he, Yang Se Chan and Choi Daniel were scolded by Jong-kook for their extravagant amount of cash gifts during the ceremony. The newlywed star admitted, “That’s true. Yoo Jae Suk even hosted the ceremony but still gave way too much. But when it came to Ji Suk-jin, he only said, ‘Thank you, hyung’”.
Ji Suk-jin defended himself, explaining that Jong-kook had received the most generous wedding gift he had ever given. The “Running Man” star replied that, while he appreciated the gesture, he still felt his friends had spent far too much money on him. As for the exact amount of cash gift Jong-kook received, that’s something between him and his friends.
