There is no good news coming from the social accounts of the former world number one, Kim Clijsters. The Belgian tennis player announced that she had suffered an injury during a performance in Luxembourg, specifying: “I tore my Achilles tendonwhich wasn’t fun at all, but I’m on the road to recovery now. For the next two weeks I will have to wear this brace – said Kim – It’s a very annoying injury, obviously. I didn’t think that after I retired I would suffer such a serious injurybut that’s how it went. I can’t wait to get to the United States, be with Brian and the kids, and start my rehabilitation. And for the people who knew and sent me so many messages, thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Yesterday I was very down, but now everything is fine. The surgery was done. I guess I’ll have to put some more people to work at the bar now, because I won’t be able to do much for a while. Anyway, thanks so much everyone. I can’t wait to get betterI’m motivated to try and give myself the time I need to be ready to play tennis again. And hopefully Wimbledon Legends is the next thing I can do.”
The 4-time Grand Slam champion, who retired definitively in 2022 – after the first two farewells – expects to recover soon from the unexpected injury, so as to return to the field for performances as soon as possible, although naturally several months of rehabilitation will be necessary.
