As reported by British newspapers The Timesthe plan, called “Plan B” by British reports, would include the 86-year-old Khamenei and 20 people close to him, including family and aides.
It would also involve taking over his vast network of assets, which according to a 2013 Reuters investigation cited by The Times, is worth about $95 billion, and includes the Setad organization, one of Iran’s most influential organizations, and the Ayatollah’s semi-state charitable foundation system known for its financial opacity.
“’Plan B’ is for Khamenei and his inner circle, including his son and potential heir to the throne, Mojtaba,” The Times said, citing an intelligence source.
The report also said that, according to former Israeli intelligence official Beni Sabti, Khamenei would go to Russia because “there was no other place for him.”
