TEHERAN – Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump Lied when he said that he wanted peace in the Middle East during his visit to several Arab countries last week.

“On the contrary, the United States uses its strength to give a bomb weighing 10 tons to the Zionist regime (Israel) to be dropped on the heads of Gaza children,” he said on Saturday, as quoted by Al ArabiyaSunday (5/18/2025).

Trump told reporters at the Air Force One after leaving the United Arab Emirates on Friday that Iran had to move quickly to respond to the US proposal for its nuclear program. “Or something bad will happen,” he said.

Khamenei responded cynically by Trump’s comments. “His statement is not even worth responding to,” he said. “They are a disgrace for speakers and the American people.”

“There is no doubt that the source of corruption, war, and conflict in this region is the Zionist regime – a dangerous and deadly cancer tumor that must be revoked; he will be revoked,” he said in an event at a religious center in Tehran.

Earlier on Saturday, Iranian President Masoud Pezishkian said Trump talked about peace while simultaneously threw a threat.

“Which should we believe?” Pezishkian said in a Navy event in Tehran.

“On the one hand, he talked about peace and on the other hand, he threatened with the most sophisticated mass murder tools,” he added.

Tehran will continue Iran’s nuclear negotiations but not afraid of threats. “We are not looking for war,” said Pezishkian.

While Trump said on Friday that Iran had a US proposal regarding its nuclear program, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in a post in X said Tehran had not yet received the proposal.
