GERB leader Boyko Borisov met with Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul.
“Our collaboration with Turkey is excellent and key in the fight against illegal migration and the conservation of our common border, which is also external to the European Union. We have also discussed the expansion and modernization of the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, which is already the largest borderline, which is the need for the significant daily capacity. The two also talked about the security of the Black Sea region, as well as the coordination in the establishment of the Operational Group for Anti -Minutes in the Black Sea.
“Turkey is not only a neighbor of Bulgaria, but also an ally in NATO and an important partner in areas such as trade and investment, transport, energy, tourism, combating terrorism and organized crime. The accent in our conversation was also the opportunities in various initiatives in the post -war recovery of Ukraine,” Borisov wrote.
According to him, “good neighborly relations between Bulgaria and Turkey and our personal and professional contacts with President Erdogan” are a guarantee for the conservation of both our national and external European borders.
