Kermit the Frog, the “World’s Most Famous Frog,” recently addressed the University of Maryland’s 2025 graduating class, offering both wisdom and lighthearted moments at the alma mater of the late Muppets creator Jim Henson.

“As I look out at you students, I can tell you all worked your tails off,” Kermit told the class of 2025. “And as a former tadpole, believe me, losing your tail is a pretty big deal.”

Offering advice to the graduates, Kermit shared, “As you prepare to take this big leap into real life, here’s a little advice – if you’re willing to listen to a frog. Rather than jumping over someone to get what you want,consider reaching out your hand and taking the leap side by side,as life is better when we leap together.”

The proclamation of Kermit the Frog as the commencement speaker was made in march. Kermit noted in his speech that Jim Henson,a 1960 University of Maryland graduate with a degree in home economics,significantly influenced his career. A bronze sculpture of Kermit and Henson stands as a campus landmark.

Kermit the Frog concluded his commencement speech by leading the graduates in a singalong of “The Rainbow Connection.”
