Arvind Kejriwal Alleges Attack on AAP Workers Ahead of Delhi Assembly Polls

Delhi Assembly polls are just days away, and the heat is on as tensions rise. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has made serious allegations involving attacks on his party workers, seeking decisive interventions from the Election Commission.

Kejriwal’s Allegation and Demands

In a pointed letter to the Election Commission, Kejriwal demands the appointment of independent observers in his New Delhi constituency. He also calls for the arrest of BJP workers allegedly involved in attacks and the suspension of police officers responsible.

Kejriwal’s claims come amidst no immediate reaction from the BJP or Delhi Police, leaving the allegations unaddressed as of now.

Incidents Allegedly Involving AAP Workers

The letter cites specific instances of violence against AAP workers. AAP MLA Mohinder Goyal was allegedly assaulted during a public rally in the Rohini area on February 1, 2025. Goyal was engaging with residents of Pocket H in Sector 11 when the incident reportedly took place.

Sanjay Singh’s Allegations

Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh further exacerbated tensions by writing a letter to the Election Commission. He alleged that BJP workers attacked AAP workers and attempted to obstruct their campaigning efforts in the New Delhi constituency.

The electoral competition in the New Delhi constituency is fierce, with Kejriwal facing off against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Sandeep Dikshit of the Congress in a triangular contest.

Upcoming Election Dates

Voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on February 5, 2025. The results are scheduled to be announced after the counting of votes on February 8, 2025.

Conclusion

As political tensions escalate in Delhi ahead of crucial assembly elections, Kejriwal’s allegations and demands for action from electoral authorities highlight the potential for unrest. The scrutiny of these claims and the steps taken by the Election Commission to ensure fair and peaceful elections will be closely watched by both parties and the general public.
