Bengaluru : Kaggadasapura Sree Narayana Mathrudevi Ayyappa Temple is a place of faith for the residents of the area. Ayappan and Devi are the main deities. There are deities of Shiva, Vishnu, Murugan, Ganesha, Gurudev, Naga and Navagraha. Within a short period of time, the temple has become a comfort center for a large religious community including Malayalis, Kannadigas and other languages.
A native of Mavelikara, an entrepreneur settled in Bengaluru, K. It was first decided to start the temple at Baiyyappanahalli under the leadership of Subhash Chander. Shadadhara dedication was also performed at the site found for this purpose under the leadership of Plakudi tantris of Chettikulangara temple. But construction could not be done due to obstacles. Later, in the deva problem, Subhash Chander saw the presence of God at the place in Kaggadasapura and decided to build a temple here.
The foundation stone for the new temple at Kaggadasapura was laid in 2011. The construction was completed in a year and the dedication ceremony was performed. Since then, rituals including daily pujas have been performed without interruption. It opens daily at 5.30 am. After Ganapati Homam, Ushapuja, Uchapuja etc. it will be closed on 12th. It will reopen at 5 pm. Deeparadhana at 6.30, dinner at 8, Harivarasana at 8.20 and closing at 8.30.
Special pujas are performed every year during the Sabarimala Mandala-Makaravilak Pilgrimage. Elaborate arrangements have been made in the temple for garlanding and tying the Sabarimala pilgrims. Ceremonies including Ashtabhishekam will be performed on the 14th in conjunction with the Makara lamp. A large number of devotees also participate in the Pongal held every year. This year Pongala is on 15th of this month. Arrangements have also been made for the hearing on the same day. At 9.30 am, fire will be lit in the Pandara fireplace. The proposal will be submitted on the 12th. In addition to the temple, there is also a region wise prayer.
The festival is held twice a year. The festival lasts for seven days on the day of Kumbhabharani and one day for Meenabharani. Theyam has also been performing in the temple for the past three years. Special pujas are also performed during Navratri. Arrangements will be made for offering and receiving pooja. Vahana Puja and Vidya Rambha are performed in the temple.
Special pujas are also performed on occasions like Vishu. Many devotees come here every year to have a glimpse of Vishukani and to receive hand offerings. Vinayaka Chaturthi and Sri Krishna Jayanti celebrations are also celebrated in the temple. Shivaratri celebrations will also be held on a grand scale. Yama Pooja and Mahamrityunjaya Homa will be performed on this occasion. Balitarpana ceremonies will also be performed on Karkidaka Vavudin. Many devotees also participate in the Goddess’s life-raising ceremonies on special occasions. Smita Baiju acts as the temple’s administrator and Bhargavan acts as the secretary, with Subhash Chander as the Dharmadhikari. Kitangara Saji holds the Tantri position. Shivdasan Potti and Jayesh Potti are the priests.
