Justin Lin: Why He Left Fast X & Furious 10

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk
I don’t really care why Lin left Fast X (which was, it was), I wonder why Fast X2 somehow left Universal. If it’s really going to be the grande finale of the whole brand, as Diesel talks about, where he goes, then the only right way is “Avengers on wheels” (all living and dead characters from the entire series together, plus shocking family twists ala “No, I’m Your Father”, crazy stunts, totally overheated action and a final farewell to Walker – tissues with you:D), which is kind of at odds with the studio pushing for massive budget cuts.

It’s obvious that the tie-breakers don’t want to throw around because of nines and ten, but for fifteen years (from five onwards) they have been systematically building this brand on the basis of “bigger, faster, stronger”, so it’s not very clear to me what they expect from the fact that they suddenly step on the brakes at the finish line and give the fans some “malnourished” ending. Who will applaud them for this (“yes, we wanted to have Johnson, Statham and Moma there, but they only gave us the money for one, sorry”)? Sure, they will write off a few tens/hundreds of mega:D), but what’s the point of finally finding out if Walker’s mind has been transferred to his GT-R, Diesel isn’t an amnesiac alien, or if everything doesn’t actually take place in the Matrix (the physics and plot logic would match that):D.

I don’t really care why Lin left Fast X (which was, it was), I wonder why Fast X2 somehow left Universal*:D*. If this is really going to be the grande finale of the whole brand, as Diesel talks about, where he goes, then the only right way is “Avengers on wheels” (all living and dead characters from the entire series together, plus shocking family twists ala “No, I’m Your Father”, crazy stunts, totally burned-out action and a final farewell to Walker – tissues with you*:D*), which is kind of at odds with how the studio is pushing for a massive budget cuts. Sure, they’ll write off a few tens/hundreds of megs (they’ll shoot more dinosaurs anyway, Rebirth quality targets are not enough*:D*), but what’s that against finally finding out if Walker’s mind has been transferred to his GT-R, Diesel isn’t an amnesiac alien, or everything doesn’t actually take place in the Matrix (the physics and logic of the plot would match that)*:D*.
