Joy Taylor is addressing the tough period following her dismissal from FS1 and being named in a sexual assault lawsuit.
During a recent episode of Cam Newton’s Funky Friday podcast, Taylor discussed her exit from the sports network and the resolution of the related controversies.
“I’m much better now than I was obviously at the beginning of the year,” Taylor told Newton. “It’s been a unique experience for me in my life. I’ve been thru a lot of sh*t in my life, but this one was diffrent.”
Taylor acknowledged experiencing “definitely” some “very, very dark” moments. She credited her survival to “leaning on the people in my life that I no have my back, that I know trust and love me, that I can trust,” as well as therapy and a new workout routine to “drown out the noise.”
“So, it’s been a very, very tough year for me personally,” Taylor continued. “It’s also been a learning year, a shedding year, a year where I learned to protect myself, protect myself emotionally, to kind of pay attention to different energies when they enter my space.”
In the past year, Taylor has reflected on her professional journey and is planning her next steps.
“I’ve really accomplished what I set out to do when I started in this business,” she said. “My goal was to do a daily opinion show where my voice mattered as much as the men at the table. And I was able to do that at the highest level, at the network level.”
Looking ahead
joy Taylor is focused on the future after a period of significant personal and professional challenges. She is taking the lessons learned and applying them to her next endeavors.
