John Lydon, better known as Johnny Rottenhas been revealed, to the surprise of fans, as the last participant in the English program ‘The Masked Singer‘.
In this singing competition, celebrities compete against each other, disguised to hide their identity from the jury and the studio audience, who are invited to vote for their favorite contestant. The celebrity with the fewest votes must reveal their true identity.
Last Friday (January 9), the character Yak – under whom Lyndon was hiding – performed a version of “Physical” de Olivia Newton-John and later engaged in a musical battle against contestant Monkey
Business.
After being eliminated and having to reveal his identity, Lydon shared the following on his social networks: “John has gotten rid of that burden and is now going to record the new PiL album! Thank you, ITV, Masked Singer! Let’s Get Physical”.
In his farewell interview on the show, Lydon was jokingly asked if his appearance on the show had been one of the highlights of his career, to which he responded: “I don’t believe it. For me, I hope the fun has been conveyed.”
“Instead of going on stage, singing and immediately guessing who I am, I thought I’d show another side of myself. I’m a fun star. I am the court jester by nature. That’s who I am.”
Asked about whether it made him sad to leave the programLydon was sincere: “Of course not. “I think it has been a privilege for you to have me.”
LYDON AND TELEVISION
John Lydon is no stranger to the world of television, starting with the announcement of the
mantequilla Contry Life. He also appeared on the ITV show
‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!’, a sort of English ‘Survivor’. He did all this, basically, for money.
“The money I earned from butter ads wasn’t much, but it helped me pay off part of the outstanding debt and I was able to slowly start to get out of that situation.””he said at the time.
“This way I was able to free myself from those restrictive contracts. When I worked with the butter people, they gave me complete freedom”.
