“According to reports, John Herdman has been appointed head coach of the Indonesian men’s national team, and will reportedly receive a salary of USD 40,000 per month, with this role starting in 2026. The 2027 Asian Cup is the first focus,” he wrote on his personal social media.
So far, PSSI is still holding meetings regarding the candidate for the Indonesian National Team coach after Patrick Kluivert, believed to be announced in early 2026. However, John Herdman is considered to be one of the candidates.
USD 40 thousand per month means the equivalent of IDR 670 million. This figure is considered smaller than what Shin Tae-yong and Patrick Kluivert got.
There is no competition on the agenda for the Indonesian National Team in 2026. However, it could be that 2026 will be the preparation for the Garuda Squad to face the 2027 Asian Cup.
