Taiwanese actress Joe Chen, 46, recently underwent surgery for appendicitis to ensure minimal disruption to her work schedule. The actress shared her experience on Instagram Stories on May 28, revealing that she had been experiencing diarrhoea and stomach pain.
After seeking medical attention, she was diagnosed with appendicitis and opted for immediate surgery. “the doctor told me not to worry as it was a minimally invasive surgery,” Chen wrote on instagram Stories.
CHENNAI – Chen reported a rapid recovery, spending only one night in the hospital. She expressed gratitude to Kempas Medical Center in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, for their excellent care, specifically thanking the medical team and hospital management for the fruit basket.
“I can be discharged from the hospital today, and the doctor says I can eat whatever I want,” she added. Chen is well-known for her roles in popular Taiwanese idol dramas such as *The Prince Who Turns Into A Frog* (2005) and *Fated To Love You* (2008).
She is married to Alan Chen, 36, a Malaysian artist from Johor.
The actress also shared a humorous exchange with her mother, showing her a photo of her removed appendix. Joe Chen explained that the keyhole surgery involved three small incisions in her abdomen.
Her mother responded that the appendix resembled chicken and duck intestines.
Prior to her surgery, Chen attended Lady Gaga’s concert at the National Stadium in Singapore on May 20, posting videos and photos of the event on social media, including one of her pretending to be a monster, a nod to Lady Gaga’s fans, known as “Little Monsters.”
