The Civil Police of Paraíba investigates singer João Lima for assault against his own wife. According to police, the victim filed a police report against the singer this Saturday (24), in João Pessoa (PB).
According to the Civil Police of Paraíba, the attacks took place during this week, but the victim sought out the Specialized Police Station for Women’s Assistance this morning.
The forró singer has more than 74 thousand followers on social media, where he also presents himself as a composer and businessman.
Police say the victim asked for a urgent protective measure against the singerwhich was accepted by the Court. The case continues to be investigated.
In a statement, the victim’s defense stated that the case will be forwarded to the state Public Prosecutor’s Office. Read the note in full:
“Raphaela Brilhante‘s defense informs that at this first moment it is acting to immediately stop all the attacks suffered by her. Physical, psychological, moral and financial attacks are unacceptable and the perpetrator must bear the consequences of the strictness of the law protecting women.
In a country that boasts a record number of femicides registered in 2025, it is high time that we no longer accept that abusive men feel comfortable treating our bodies as if they were objects.
Society needs to become aware that victims must be protected and perpetrators punished. After the Occurrence Registration carried out at the police headquarters, the case will be forwarded to the Public Ministry of Paraíba so that the complaint can be filed and the judiciary can impose protective measures in favor of Raphaela.”
