The Joaçaba Municipal Health Secretariat is actively encouraging residents to ensure their vaccinations are current.Key vaccines being emphasized include Acwy (for meningococcal meningitis), the triple viral (measles, mumps, and rubella), and the HPV vaccine.
The Acwy vaccine is crucial for protection against meningococcal meningitis,a severe and perhaps fatal illness.Within the Unified Health System (SUS), this vaccine is routinely available for children starting at 12 months and for adolescents between the ages of 11 and 14 years.
An ongoing campaign against measles is a state-level initiative aimed at preventing the virus’s re-emergence in santa catarina. The triple viral vaccine is used for immunization, targeting individuals up to 59 years old. Specific groups, such as health workers, bus drivers, taxi drivers, hotel staff, tourism professionals, and those in the industry sector, are particularly encouraged to get vaccinated.
Vaccination against HPV is also being highlighted, as it can prevent infections that may lead to cervical cancer, among other conditions. The vaccine is available for boys and girls aged 9 to 14, and until December of this year, individuals aged 15 to 19 who have not yet been vaccinated can also receive it.
Vaccination services are available from 7:30 am to 11:30 am and from 13h to 17h at several locations: FHS Centro 1,Frei Bruno,Santa Tereza,Vila Pedrini,Vila Remor,São Brás,and Our Lady of Lourdes.
