The final round was filled with drama, including a pivotal moment involving viktor Hovland. Hovland narrowly missed a putt, providing Spaun with valuable insight on the line. Spaun then capitalized, sinking an impressive 64-foot birdie putt.

Spaun Acknowledges Hovland’s Unintentional Assist
Spaun acknowledged the role Hovland’s putt played in his success.”I’ve gotta give him a nice bottle of wine or something, whatever he wants,” Spaun told “The Dan Patrick Show.” He added,”That was a nice teach,and I think that is just one of the things that has to go your way to win not only a championship but a major championship,and I’m just happy to have capitalized on that little advantage.”

Spaun’s impressive performance included rounds of 66, 72, 69, and 72, making him the only golfer to finish under par at the challenging oakmont course.

Oakmont’s Challenges and Spaun’s Triumph
Oakmont lived up to its reputation as a formidable course, challenging even the most skilled players. Despite difficult conditions, including heavy rain on Sunday, Spaun managed to navigate the course and secure his victory.
Spaun’s journey to the championship was not without its challenges. He faced a difficult start on Sunday,with five bogeys in the first six holes.Though, a weather delay provided an opportunity to regroup, and Spaun returned to the course with renewed focus.
The back nine proved to be decisive for Spaun. He birdied Hole 12 and Hole 14, bringing his round to 3-over for the day. Despite a bogey on 15, Spaun finished strong with back-to-back birdies on Hole 17 and 18, ultimately sealing his win.
