Promoter Novotný recently following the announcement of the Procházka vs Ulberg match, which will take place on 11.4. at the UFC 327 tournament in Miami, mentioned that a different fight was originally planned – Procházka vs. Chimaev.
“It was mainly about Aspinall. I have information that he was waiting for an eye examination, an operation and a verdict as to whether or not he would be able to fight. It was a heavyweight, following which Pereira’s transfer and the vacating of the title were dealt with. That was actually the whole issue. I think it was in this state for less than two months. They kept saying that we would know next week, which I kept letting on, but I felt like a fool. In the end, I said that they would know when I told. I didn’t want to lead anyone by the nose. The only thing that kept us going was faith.” Procházka explained to iSport.cz how complicated the situation was.
“I roughly knew who I was going to wrestle with. We were training for Ulberg, even though there were all kinds of speculations about Chimaev here. It was all just idle fish.”

It is clear that Novotný, thanks to his contacts with leading managers, has interesting behind-the-scenes information, which he just gave a little more sensationally when he talked about the fact that the match was finished, which was obviously only 50% at most.
