[Yahoo News Report]After Jiahe Cinema announced its full completion last week, Hong Kong Film Workers Association spokesman Tian Qiwen confirmed today (30th) that the mainland theater group “Shanghai Xingyi Cinema” will take over the operation of three of these theaters from tomorrow, including the sky in Ao Haicheng, Tuen Mun StagE and Jiahe Tai Po.
“Shanghai Xingyi Cinema” was established in 2015 and currently has at least 163 theaters in the mainland, focusing on immersive movie viewing experience and STARX giant screen hall and other special facilities. According to information from the China Film Ticketing Platform, the group’s cumulative box office last year reached RMB 1.121 billion, ranking third in the country, second only to Wanda and Hengdian. As of now, the box office has reached RMB 776 million.
Searching the information shows that Xingyi Cinema has previously recruited theater financial personnel from the mainland job search website, and its work location is listed as the sky in Aohai City. Recruitment requirements require applicants to have financial accounting-related education and more than two years of experience, be familiar with Hong Kong accounting standards and tax regulations, and have a monthly salary of between 20,000 and 25,000 yuan.
Orange Sky Jiahe said earlier that as part of reviewing the operational and cost structure strategy, it will be decided to end the last four theater leases including the sky, StagE, Jiahe Galaxy Plaza and Jiahe Tai Po by June 29, and withdraw from the Hong Kong market in full.
Jiahe also stated that theater gift vouchers, coupons and movie tickets can continue to be used in the three theaters on or before August 31. “GH Moviegoer” members will also be transferred to the new operator’s membership plan and enjoy the same or more benefits. The specific arrangements will be announced by the new operator in the future.
