[전주=뉴시스] Reporter Nanseul Yoon = The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Provincial Office of Education announced on the 22nd that it will inspect the operation status of the school sports club‘s professional sports club by the 26th.

The goal of this inspection is to create an environment in which athletes can stably balance sports and studies in a situation where supply and demand of school athletes has become difficult due to a decrease in the number of students.

As sports such as soccer, baseball, curling, and ice hockey, which are difficult to foster in schools, are converted to regional professional sports clubs, the Provincial Office of Education plans to examine the operation status of 14 local professional sports clubs and 2 consignment clubs.

The main inspection contents include ▲training log management ▲training environment (facilities and equipment) ▲player management status ▲competition participation status, etc. The appropriateness of subsidy execution and compliance with accounting standards and procedures are also checked.

Kang Yang-won, head of the Department of Cultural Arts and Health, said, “In order to resolve the limitations in the supply and demand of athletes within the school, we will closely inspect the operation status of the converted school athletic department’s professional sports club to ensure stable implementation of the policy,” and added, “We will continue to support student athletes so that they can grow while balancing academics and sports.”
