Jekabpils Launches Remigration Support competition for Entrepreneurs

Grants up to €10,700 are available for returning Latvians and businesses creating jobs for remigrants in the Jekabpils region.


The Jekabpils Municipality, in collaboration with the Zemgale Planning Region and with the support of the Ministry of Environmental protection and regional Development, has announced a competition called “Remigration Support – Entrepreneurship Support” to encourage Latvian citizens to return to thier home country. Project applications for aid can be submitted from September 12, 2025, until October 13, 2025, at 17:00.

The competition aims to provide financial assistance to facilitate the creation of new jobs for remigrants within existing companies or to support the establishment of new businesses by remigrants,introducing novel products and services at the regional level.

Eligible applicants include:

  • A natural person (remigrant) who has returned or relocated from permanent residence abroad to permanent residence in Latvia and commits to establishing and registering a business in the Commercial Register and commencing commercial activities within the administrative territory of Jekabpils County.
  • A legal person who commits to creating at least one new job for a remigrant in the Jekabpils region. Both newly established and existing companies are eligible for support, provided they are registered in the State Revenue Service.

Successful applicants must conduct their business operations within the administrative territory of Jekabpils region during the implementation of the support measure.

The total aid granted to the winner will consist of state funding amounting to EUR 6,700.00 and municipal funding not exceeding EUR 4,000.00, bringing the total public funding to a maximum of EUR 10,700.00.

Contestants are required to provide private co-financing that is at least equal to the combined state and municipal funding, i.e.,a minimum of EUR 10,700.00, and not less than 50% of the total eligible costs.

Applications can be submitted through the following channels:

  • In person at the Jekabpils Municipality Customer Service Center, located at 120 Brivibas Street, Jekabpils.
  • By mail to Jekabpils Municipality, 120 Brivibas Street, Jekabpils, Jekabpils Municipality, LV-5201. The postal date must be no later than the submission deadline specified in the tender notice.
  • Electronically, with a secure electronic signature, via email to pasts@jekabpils.lv, using the subject line: “Request for the competition “Remigration Support Event – Business Support””.
