Jason Ceka: A New Voice Emerges

The question of the new sports director is still unanswered, but Dynamo Dresden is neither idle nor unable to act with a view to the winter transfer market. It was originally planned that the new managing director would finalize the preparatory work done by coach Thomas Stamm and chief scout Paul Wagner with regard to new additions for the second half of the season, but now it seems that nails have already been made in at least one case.

According to a report in Bild, the SGD has its first winter signing in Jason Ceka. The 26-year-old, who has already been discussed in Dresden in the past, is expected for a medical check this Thursday. If no unexpected problems arise, Ceka will be loaned out by SV Elversberg until the end of the season. A purchase option should not include the loan.

Never in the Elversberg starting eleven

Ceka only moved to Elversberg on a free transfer last summer after a difficult season at 1. FC Magdeburg with only three appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, but things didn’t go much better for the 1.69 meter tall technician in Saarland either. Ceka has only been allowed to play seven times so far this season and has always been substituted on by coach Vincent Wagner. However, the versatile offensive man did not make it into the Elversberg starting line-up. With a total of only around 65 minutes of playing time, Ceka still managed to score a goal in the 6-0 win against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

In Dresden, Ceka can easily be imagined in one of the two positions behind a central centre-forward, but could also act as a classic winger and be used as a ten. With his dribbling strength, Ceka should be primarily intended to create a goal threat from static game situations.

If the Essen native manages to build on his first second division season in 2022/23 with Magdeburg, when he ended up with five goals and eleven assists in 29 appearances, Dynamo would have achieved a coup.
