Jubilant: “Dear Parents”

But why did Vincent (Bernard Alane) and Jeanne (Frédérique Tirmont) ask their children to come urgently? Their announcement may come as a surprise. Photo Christophe Lebedinsky/Bonne Pioche TV

When their parents summon them urgently, the children prepare for the worst. But the announcement is not what they thought. This clever show dismantles clichés and subtly questions family ties. Those convinced will be able to go to the Théâtre de Paris to see “in real life” this lovely play, which is still being performed until January 10.

At 9 p.m. on France 4. Piece by Armelle and Emmanuel Patron. Director: Arnaud Emery. At the Théâtre de Paris, October 21, 2023. 1h30. With Frédérique Tirmont, Bernard Alane, Élise Diamant, Emmanuel Patron, Rudy Milstein. Rebroadcast.

A fan of committed social comedies, Louis-Julien Petit skilfully tackles the story of this cook who finds herself unemployed and accepts a position as a canteen attendant in a shelter for migrants. Audrey Lamy, touching and whimsical, illuminates the film.

At 9:10 p.m. on TF1 Séries Films. Film directed by Louis-Julien Petit (France, 2022). 1h25. With Audrey Lamy, François Cluzet, Chantal Neuwirth, Fatoumata Kaba. Rebroadcast.

Words from descendants: “The Convicts of the Panama Canal”

The drilling of the Panama Canal, handed over to the country only in 1999, shook up the world order in the 20th century. This rigorous and precise documentary tells the chronology of the work and its hidden side: that of Western imperialism and its brutal methods.

At 10:50 p.m. on France 5. Documentary directed by Sandra Rude (France, 2025). 55 mins. Unpublished.
