Jana Vaľová: MP Resigns – Smeráčka Mandate Ended

by Archynetys News Desk

It is not known why the MP is leaving the parliamentary benches.

Member of the government party Smer-SD Jana Vaľová resigned her parliamentary mandate. TV Markíza informed about it with reference to the chairman of the Smerack club in the parliament, Ján Richter.

Instead of Vaľová, Vladimír Macášek, district chairman of Smer in Kysucké Nové Mesto, should sit on the parliamentary benches. Party spokeswoman Ľubica Končalová confirmed this to Markíza. According to her, on Thursday, Vaľová asked to resign from the parliamentary club.

The colorful past of the once powerful woman of the East

Valová is the former mayor of Humenné. In the past, she also served as the president of the Slovak Women’s Union (ÚŽS). In her role, the former “powerful woman of the East” did not avoid controversy. For example, in 2019, the government office tapped the ÚŽS subsidy from Prime Minister Petr Pellegrini’s reserve in the amount of 30,000 euros.

A week before the municipal elections in 2018, ÚŽS helped to co-organize a fashion show in Humenno with a charity event to help some schools and families.

At that time, Aktuality.sk found out that the people for whom they were collecting money received significantly smaller amounts than the presenter couple who presented the show. The event cost three times more than the total proceeds from the charity fundraiser.

The prosecutor’s office also investigated Valova’s property in the past. In her property declarations, she stated that she co-owns two houses in Humenno, several gardens and a double garage.

However, according to media reports, Valová also invested in her daughter’s apartment in Prague in the past. The politician also had the right of pre-emption and usufruct for an apartment in Karlovy Vary, which, however, was officially registered to Vaľová’s former assistant.

However, the prosecutor’s office finally stopped the investigation into the property of the former mayoress.

The murdered investigative journalist Aktualít Ján Kuciak also mentioned the name of the long-time member of Smer in his article. Vaľová founded the controversial non-profit Cesta život. She received subsidies for it despite the fact that she had no clients.

We will update the report.
