Jakarta Rain Update: Flood Risk & Pump Deployment

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) informed that the potential for heavy rain will continue today. The DKI Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Department has deployed 112 mobile pump units to mitigate flooding in vulnerable spots.

“As an effort to mitigate potential extreme weather, the DKI Jakarta SDA Service will place 112 mobile pump units in 84 locations prone to inundation,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta SDA Service, Ika Agustin, to journalists, Friday (23/1/2026).

Apart from that, the DKI SDA Department also continues to dredge a number of rivers to optimize drainage. In the Central Jakarta area, dredging was carried out in the Ciliwung River, West Flood Canal Segment (KBB), Ciliwung River, Pejambon 1 Segment and KBB Red Bridge. In South Jakarta, namely Ciliwung River, Krukut River, Grogol River and West Baru River.

In West Jakarta, namely Cengkareng Drain, Semongol River, Mookervart River, Pesanggrahan River. Meanwhile, in North Jakarta, dredging was carried out in Angke River, Ancol River, Cakung Lama River, Bokor River, Mati River. In East Jakarta, namely the Ciliwung River, Cakung Drain, Cipinang River, Sunter River and Utan Kayu River.

Apart from these locations, continued Ika, dredging is also carried out in reservoirs, ponds or reservoirs and micro channels throughout Jakarta.

“As for 2025, the total dredging will be 919,173 M3. For 2026, as of January 19, the dredging volume will reach 25,746 M3,” he said.
