Jaguar Design Chief Fired | Electric Car Controversy

by Archynetys Economy Desk

The man responsible for Jaguar’s radical new electrical design, Gerry McGovern, was reportedly fired this week and escorted out of the office.

Jaguar design chief who spearheaded the controversial EV didn't come out "on good terms"!

After revealing the Type 00 last year, an ultra-luxurious electric two-door concept, and what Jaguar claimed was a preview of its new design, the ailing British manufacturer almost broke the internet.

The radical, rugged-looking concept was met with strong criticism online, including comparisons to the Pink Panther and Barbie's dream car.

Even Tesla CEO Elon Musk and electric car manufacturer Lucid Motors made fun of the controversial concept.

Musk responded to Jaguar's X post last year asking if they sell cars. Clearly mocking the bold rebranding attempt.

Jaguar risked everything... too much!

Jaguar describes the Type 00 as an indicator of the philosophy and design intent for upcoming vehicles. Not only does the concept appear to have been created with Grok or some other AI, but it is also expected to have a rather high price tag.

In an interview with The Sunday Times last year, former CEO Adrian Mardell said Jaguar's new range of luxury electric vehicles would likely be priced around £150,000, almost $200,000.

According to internal company sources, Jaguar's creative director, Gerry McGovern, was fired on Monday.

Sources said McGovern was escorted out of the office and his position was eliminated immediately.

Tata is still processing everything it invested

Jaguar is integrated into Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), which is owned by Tata Motors. Asked for more details, a JLR spokesperson responded No commentswhile Tata Motors is yet to react.

The sudden news comes just a week after PB Balaji, former CFO of Tata Motors, took over as CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, at a time when the company is struggling to turn its fortunes around.

Designer with 21 years of experience will not have been able to handle the pressure

McGovern's departure, after 21 years at JLR, indicates that bigger changes are coming to weakened British luxury brand.

The first model in Jaguar's new electric range should be a four-door electric GT, with production scheduled for mid-2026, followed by at least two more luxury electric cars.

With McGovern gone, These plans must change. We will keep you informed with the latest news.
