Jagiellonia suffered its second league defeat in a row, which has not happened to it yet this season. The guests were leading 2-0 after Oskar Repka’s goals, and Afimico Pululu scored the contact goal to make it 1-2. The second half was extended by 20 minutes, primarily due to the content of banners posted on Ultra by Jagiellonia fans.
— The match was very exciting, with many twists and turns on and off the pitch, but in the end I am proud of the team for fighting until the end, not giving up and striving to score a goal, said Siemieniec.
He admitted that Raków was better in the first half and deservedly went into the locker room with the lead. In the second half – as he said – except for the beginning and the loss of the second goal, his players performed very well, dominated and created opportunities, but there were no goals.
— The disappointment is huge, because it is not often that we lose two matches in a row in the top league (…), but this is football, we have to accept it. We had an excellent series (eighteen matches without defeat in the league and European cups – PAP), now we have to work hard to get back to winning ways – said Siemieniec.
— The league is not a sprint but a marathon, what matters is who has the most points after 34 rounds, so there are plenty of matches still ahead of us, Siemieniec added.
When asked about the break in the match related to the content of the banners displayed by the fans, the Jagiellonia coach said that “when it comes to the message itself, it is hard not to understand the fans’ frustration.” — Because we are also frustrated, not only with what happened in Zabrze, but with what has been happening over the last two seasons, Siemieniec said.
Adrian Siemienic talked about when the referees hurt his team
Apart from the match in Zabrze, he pointed to two other Jagiellonia matches and talked about the referees’ decisions to the detriment of his players.
He noted that – when interrupting the match with Raków – referee Paweł Raczkowski had the right to do so as the person “managing the match”. – I hope that the referees will also be consistent in the future, if anyone at the stadium insults in any way the presidents, directors, coaches and players of any teams, they will also interrupt the matches – said the Jagiellonia coach.
– Everything is fine for us, so we are happy, the only thing that saddens me today is Jean Carlos’s injury – said Marek Papszun, the Częstochowa team’s coach, after the match. — It’s a nice match, I’ve always liked coming here, there’s always a nice atmosphere and good results, but these matches are always demanding, too – he added.
Like Siemieniec, who said this about his team, Papszun admitted that the long break in the second half also knocked his players out of rhythm. — Because after this break, Jagiellonia found a greater rhythm, although we had one more situation. It’s a pity that the goal was lost; firstly, that it was a questionable foul, secondly, that our behavior during the set piece was poor – said Papszun.
